Steam Trains!

"Ahh... that sweet smell and sound of a steam engine..."

My love and fascination for steam trains is only fairly new, so this section will start fairly small, but I hope will grow as I get more involved and obtain more information and photographs.

I hope you enjoy these pages, and please feel free to contact me if you find that any of the information in these pages incorrect, or missing something important. My knowledge is very limited, so I'm only using information from what I can get, and appreciate any further information.

History: I had not been on a steam train until July 1998, I went with a group on a day trip to Medlow Bath in the NSW Blue Mountains for a Christmas In July celebration with 3801 Limited.
It was a great trip, and I really enjoyed travelling on the train hauled by steam loco 3801.

It was then that I was 'hooked' and got the 'steam train' bug!

I joined the NSW RTM after I went on the Millennium Aurora Tour, Easter 2000.

Since joining the RTM, I have joined the volunteers and I now work on the trips the RTM runs. It is great, I have a great time, get to meet many people who also enjoy steam trains and the preservation of our Rail Heritage.

A trip to the museum at Thirlmere is well worth it to see the railway heritage displays and some of the history of the NSW Railways.
You can even take a ride on a heritage train on the Thirlmere Loop Line - steam or diesel - depending on the season, and if steam is operating.
