"The Millennium Aurora"
Steam Locomotives 3801 and 3830
Australia's two most famous steam locomotives ...
For the first time since 1973, two of NSW's impressive 1940's '38 class' express locomotives combine to provide an awesome display of steam power on Australia's interstate rail tracks. The peak of Australian express passenger locomotive design, the '38 class' steam locomotives are renowned for their powerful and speedy performance.
3801 Limited's flagship, Australia's best known and most travelled steam locomotive - 3801 - has ventured to every mainland capital city since becoming the first steam locomotive to cross the nation in 1970. The Powerhouse Museum's 3830, restored to service just two years ago after lying idle since 1967, is making her interstate debut on this unique 3500 kilometre double headed spectacular.
